Of Whatsapp And That Evil Snitching Blue Double Tick

So recently Whatsapp has been blessing people with that beautiful blue double tick.

Screwed out minds over when we first saw it but we were, like meh. Then erm… we decided Google was free and so we asked them what the story was. Well we didn’t ask them we simply asked them to point us in the direction of whoever knew what was going on.

Shock and horror…

The official Whatsapp FAQ’s presented us with this line:

Check marks will appear next to each message you send. Here is what each one indicates:

  • message successfully sent.
  • message successfully delivered to the recipient’s phone.
  • the recipient has read your message.

In a group chat, the second check marks will appear when all participants in the group have received your message. The two blue check marks will appear when all participants in the group have read your message.

That is not cool. So not cool. Not that we are trying to avoid anyone but after giving us privacy by hiding the last seen now they take it away by allowing a person to see when a message has been read.? Not a good look Zuckerberg, not a good look.

OK it is fine if the other person owes you money so you know they saw your message and ignored it but there will be fights between couples from now on over who ignored what and the other.

We can see this coming… You can see it…

Like Jnr Brown said on Twitter…  Whatsapp yaSnitcha

Maybe it is time to go and have fun with WeChat… But yah hey.
