Malema Stays – ANCYL

The ANC Youth League has said that it only has the power to remove embattled president Julius Malema from his position.

Malema’s deputy, Ronald Lamola said that the current executive will stay in place until 2014 at which point they will elect a new executive.

He told reporters at Luthuli House:

It is only the internal process of the ANCYL that can decide to elect or un-elect leadership of the ANCYL.

The ANCYL will never agree that its leadership be subjected to unfair and unjust treatment or banished for narrow political purposes.

At the ANCYL lekgotla last week Malema offered his resignation if the body’s structures said so. Lamola says that this offer of resignation has been rejected outright.

The ANC’s disciplinary committee is expected to complete the mitigation hearing of Malema and 2 other suspended executives.

Did this story just a little bit more interesting.
