Zimbabwe PM Wants Indigenisation Probe
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has just released a statement in which he called for a Parliament probe on indeginisation.
In it he made reference to what he called ‘disturbing reports of alleged misdemeanours and corruption in the handling of empowerment transactions for several companies’.
He expressed his concern that there was a possibility of only a few individuals benefiting from the programme adding that there were fears that certain arms of government were kept n the dark when the policy was being implemented.
Now Tsvangirai says only a proper investigation into the truth will sort the mess out. That he wants done through parliament.
In the last couple of weeks there have been public spats between government departments over the indeginisation programme with some questioning the methods especially after it was revealed that a Harare company Brainworks made $45 million off the Zimplats deal. Also it emerged that Brainworks was awarded the deal without due process.
