Air Zimbabwe Resumes Domestic Flights Today

Troubled national carrier Air Zimbabwe is to resume limited domestic flights today as it tries to get back into the skies, Newsday reports.

Flights to Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls will be scheduled three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. As the market picks up, the airline expects to increase the number of flights.

The national airline which recently changed its name to Air Zimbabwe Private Limited and it now run by two government ministries. It is struggling under a local and foreign debt. One of its biggest issues is the money owed to employees.

What we are keen to find out is if sanity when it comes to fares will prevail. Also they really have to sort out reliability when it comes to take-off times. If there are any hiccups the market will react. After all it will be business as usual.

We are however quietly optimistic.
