Twitter To Introduce Country-Specific Censorship

Twitter has announced that it is now introducing country-specific censorship in order to gain access to “countries that have different ideas about the contours of freedom of expression”.

Critics say that this has wider implications on freedom of speech. It, however, says that it is doing it the same way Google does it, informing a user when content has been withheld.

One of the reasons it is censoring, some believe, is that if tweets that offend certain territories, their staff may be arrested.
