Zimbabweans Rally Behind Stephen Muzhingi For Comrades Marathon

A lot of expectation will be on Zimbabwe’s Stephen Muzhingi as he looks to defend his Comrades Marathon crown to bring back his fourth win in the annual challenge.

This year, he has already won the Two Oceans Marathon and the legend looks a firm favourite to take the 86km competition.

The buzz on social media has been greater than any year before this with many well-wishers from all walks of life – don’t think we have ever used that phrase here – posting good-luck messages for Muzhingi.

Muzhingi will also try to beat the course record – 5hrs 20mins 41secs – which comes with a cool  $37 500 (R300 000) on top of the prize money for winning.

The Comrades Marathon is on this Sunday 3 June and will start at 5.30 in the morning in South Africa. Runners will leave Pietermaritzburg and follow a route to Durban.

We wish our Stephen all the best.
