SuperSport seals 2018 Fifa World Cup deal
SuperSport have announced a deal with FIFA for rights to broadcast its major sporting events including the Russia World Cup.
The satellite pay TV broadcatser made the announcement on Thursday:
DStv & GOtv customers’ football experience will be taken to a whole new level with the impending FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia and the FIFA World Cup, which also takes place in Russia in June 2018. All 64 matches will be broadcast live in High Definition.
Other FIFA events on the broadcast calendar are the FIFA Under-20 and Under-17 World Cups, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and, in 2018, the FIFA Under-20 and Under-17 Women’s World Cup tournaments.
SuperSport has exclusive pay TV rights in South Africa to all the games of the FIFA Confederations Cup and the FIFA World Cup. Rights are on a non-exclusive basis in the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa.
Meanwhile Brazil are the first team to qualify for the World Cup following their win over Paraguay.
