DSTv sports channel Supersport has struck a deal with the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League to broadcast its matches.

In terms of the agreement, SuperSport will broadcast league and cup matches played during the remainder of the 2012 football season and during the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons.

SuperSport will broadcast the fixtures via all platforms, including television, mobile and internet, throughout sub-Saharan Africa and the adjacent islands.

The deal was confirmed via the Superport website which quoted Brandon Foot, the Head of Acquisitions and Legal at SuperSport and  Twine Phiri, the Chairman of the Zimbabwean PSL.

Zimbabwe joins Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia in having its local matches broadcast on the channel.

Financial details of the deal were not immediately available. What this means for state broadcaster ZBC as well is not clear.

However, visibility is always a good thing.
