Sri Lanka decimate Bangladesh to knock Zimbabwe out
Sri Lanka pulled a performance out of nowhere to crush hosts Bangladesh by 10 wickets in a TriNation series decider.
The result means Zimbabwe will play no further part in the mini tournament and have to watch the final from the terraces on Sunday.
All four bowlers for Sri Lanka grabbed wickets as the hosts were bowled out for a paltry 82 runs.
Openers Danushka Gunathilaka (35) and Upul Tharanga (39) made light work of the chase and achieved it in 11.5 overs.
Zimbabwe now focus on their next series against Afghanistan needing a big boost before they host the ICC World Cup Cricket Qualifier 2018 they are hosting in March.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s Under 19s recovered from a fourth ball wicket loss to post 259-4 which included three half centuries.
Donald Mlambo scored 52 on debut, Jayden Schadendorf posted 74 and Michael Shumba 62.
It was in a losing cause as Sri Lanka made 260-5 to clinch the tie. Nishan Madushka was the standout performer with 109 not out.
