PRO50 CHAMPIONSHIP: Mire, Williams score hundreds
Solomon Mire and Sean Williams each scored 101 on matchday 4 of Zimbabwe’s limited over Pro50 Championship on Monday.
Mire ended up on the winning side as his Midwest Rhinos chased down the table-topping Matabelelamd Tuskers’ 244-9. They amassed 245-6 in 45 overs.
For Tuskers it was only Williams who scored at 100% strike rate and Richmond Mutumbami (66) with significant scores as the rest of the batsmen never really got going.
Neville Madziva took 3-14, Tinashe Panyangara 2-48 and Graeme Creme 2-57.
Mire’s century off 107 balls was complicated by Malcolm Waller (49), Prince Masvaure(39) and Peter Moor (27).
In the other match holders Mashonaland Eagles lost to Manicaland Mountaineers by 4 wickets with 31 balls remaining.
Regis Chakabva (55) and Tino Mutombodzi (81) were the only ones to score half centuries as the Eagles were bowled out for 239.
Tendai Chatara (2-46), Shingi Masakadza (2-42) and Tafadzwa Kamungozi (2-43) were the pick of the bowlers.
Innoncent Kaia’s 80-ball 70 set the stage for a solid middle order performance with the winning runs coming off the willow of forgotten man Roy Kaia with a 6. The match was over in 43.5 overs.
