Ntini leaves Zimbabwe Cricket
Zimbabwe Cricket and national team bowling coach Makhaya Ntini have parted ways.
In a statement ZC said Ntini had tendered his resignation and added:
And while reluctantly accepting his resignation, ZC fully appreciates and respects the reasons behind Makhaya’s decision, and wishes him all the very best for the future
The legendary South African bowler who served Zimbabwe from 2016 however says he was asked to resign according to an interview on Radio 2000. Ntini says he was told that some players and staff members were not happy with him.
ZC Managing Director Faisal Hasnain as recently as December had quashed rumours of an imminent departure of the charismatic Ntini saying he was ‘very much a part of our plans’ and would ‘not be going anywhere, at least for now’.
Ntini’s contract was up for renewal this end of January 2018. In his time, he also served as interim coach of Zimbabwe after Dav Whatmore was relieved from his position.
