No surprises in Zimbabwe’s provisional Afcon squad

Coach Kalisto Pasuwa has kept faith with the players he has used in his Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in naming his provisionals for the finals in Gabon next year.

His 31 man squad includes only two of the soccer stars of year in Caps United’s Hardlife Zvirekwi and Ngezi Platinum’s Liberty Chakoroma.

There is no place in the squad for the local league’s top goalminder Petros Mhari as Pasuwa persisted with regulars Tatenda Mukuruva and Donovan Bernard.

Most of the foreign based players will not be available when the team goes into camp on the 22nd of December before flying out for a friendly against African champions Cote D’Ivoire set for Boxing Day.

Another friendly is slated for 10 January against Cameroon in Yaounde.
