NetOne unveils bumper Warriors Afcon sponsorship

Mobile services provider NetOne has unveiled $250,000 sponsorship for the Warriors to cover their Africa Cup of Nations expenses.

The announcement was made at an event at Harare’s Meikles Hotel on Wednesday.
Zimbabwe Football Association President Phillip Chiyangwa, assured the nation that all the money would directly to the recipients. No creditors will have access to sponsorship. Zifa is currently millions of dollars in the red, a position which has affected its ability to carry out some of its activities effectively.

To Pasuwa, Chiyangwa said

Mari yaapoka iyi, vakomana vakauya vanovhunza mari heyo, saka monotamba bhora, takutarisira a win. (The money is now here, so no more excuses. What we want now is a win)

Sports minister Makhosini Hlongwane applauded NetOne for backing the Warriors and encouraged other corporates to sponsor local sports.

The Warriors campaign will run under the hashtag #TheOneBehindTheWarriors.

Zimbabwe take part in the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon next month. In their group they face Tunisia, Algeria and Senegal.
