A Moment With… Tinotenda Chibharo (Manchester City Player)

Tinotenda Chibharo is a 19 years old Zimbabwean football player with English champions manchester City.

The youngest in a family of 11 which, he started playing soccer at the age of 7 and always had a dream of becoming one of the best players in the world. He fell in love with the beautiful game when he represented Zimbabwe  the junior level particularly because of what it meant to have the whole nation looking to him to deliver a moment of pride on the pitch.

The former Prince Edward School student was scouted from Winthrop University in United States where he was studying. Chibharo  had to stop midway his Business Management degree when the City opportunity fell on his way. Recently, the midfielder was named captain of City’s Under-21 side.

What is the most ridiculous nickname you have ever had?

Blockhead and that was my bestfriend in America. She always did that in front of all the people but I ended up liking it.

Which side of the bed do you sleep on?

Right side cause every morning when I wake up its always my right foot first on the floor and i pray to God for making me see another day!

Are you left-handed or right-handed?

Right

What is your favourite instrument?

Keyboard, even though I cant really play it good I just like to chill on it.

What is the first song you fell in love with?

Hate How Much I Love You, you know sometimes when you have a crush on a girl you cant get lol.

Best football match you have ever been to?

Manchester city vs QPR. it was a really intresting game and I got to see that anything can happen in soccer within a few minutes.

Of the matches you have been involved in which one is your favourite or most memorable?

We played Chelsea and I really had a good game, I also scored a tremendous goal even though we lost but it was a good game.

How do you deal with groupies?

I dont really call them groupies but family and I always have time for family so I always try to make time for them. They love what I do which means im doing something nice and everyone’s got there way of appreciating what someone does so I guess thats their way.

How excited were you when the first groupie hollered at you?

Well I was excited but it was just a phone call so just had to keep my head focused and keep moving and not let that get in my way or head.

Where is Zimbabwe football going?

Zimbabwe football is headed up its just a matter of getting the things right that we been missing all this time. So I guess we will learn soon from other countries who have done it and will go up from there.

Where is your football career going?

My career is going up and I dont see or ever imagine it going down ’cause will keep working hard and praying that what I want prevails. With God on my side I can archieve anything.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I wanna be rememberd as that person that lived his dream and a person who new that when you have faith in anything you do regardless of what people might say or do but if you bileve in God and yourself you can do anything. Also being the second Zimbabwean to play for not only Manchester City but Real Madrid aswel.
