Lance Armstrong Stripped Of All Seven Tour De France Titles Over Doping
Cycling’s Lance Armstrong has been stripped of all seven of his Tour De France titles after he decided not challenge the charges of doping leveled against him by the US Anti-Doping Agency.
In essence what this means is that he loses all titles since 1998. USADA say he will also be banned for life, which at age 40 means very little.
Armstrong maintains his innocence. While the International Cycling Union hasn’t made a decision, USADA believes that the governing body will be bound by their decision.
Armstrong had until midnight on 23 August 2012 to challenge a decision by a federal court to allow USADA to bring evidence against him. He failed to do this and so now has been banned.
Loads of evidence had been coming out in the last couple of years with fellow riders saying they had taken drugs together.
Armstrong denied it but these allegations had already tainted his legacy.
