Ervine rallies as Zimbabwe build on first day

Craig Ervine was masterful in his unbeaten 151 in Zimbabwe’s first day in the Only Test against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

A confident Zimbabwe walked in on the back of a 3-2 one day international series victory with changes and after winning the toss chose to bat.

It looked like a bad idea as Zimbabwe quickly found themselves 70-4 and looking at a score well south of 200.

Enter Craig Ervine who flayed the Sri Lankan attack as he posted his second test century and a big one at that. He was 151 at close of play with Donald Tiripano standing with him on a score of 24 at the close of play.

He was ably assisted by Sikandar Raza (36), Malcolm Waller (36) and  PJ Moor (24).

Rangana Herath was the chief tormentor on 4-106 at the end of play.
