Dynamos Win Mbada Cup To Complete League And Cup Double

A second half Rodrick Mutuma brace saw league champions Dynamos win the prestigious Mbada Diamonds Cup in their final against Monomotapa.

Dynamos who won the league last weekend never allowed Monomotapa to play their usual free-flowing passing game and imposed themselves on the match early on. Monoz keeper Artwell Mukandi as in irresistible form i the first half making saves from Denver Mukamba.

The two teams went into the break deadlocked and it was more of the same in the second half as Dembare continued to press. Still Mukandi continued to make saves the 65th minute when Mukamba exchanged passes with Mushure who delivered a cross Mutuma who clipped the ball over the keeper from close range.

The second goal was as a result of a swift counter-attack with Simba Sithole finding Mutuma in the box who put it past the keeper.

Calisto Pasuwa’s men still had more chances to go even further ahead, one of them, a one-on-one Mukamba chance towards the end of the match saved by Mukandi again.

At the end of the day it was down to Dynamos making sure Monoz wouldn’t settle into their game and a good use of their own wings. Thomas Magorimbo in particular was instrumental in making sure Monomotapa had no space to play.

It is the second year in a row that Dynamos have completed the double. This is the first time that a team has achieved that two years in a row in the history of organised football in Zimbabwe.

It’s congratulations to them. We won’t hear the end of zora butter this weekend, will we?
