Dereck Chisora: Mum Made Me Focus On Boxing Again
Derek Chisora has been talking on the eve of his upcoming fight against Ondrej Pala at the Copper Box thus weekend.
As it stands, with very little press coverage, the Zimbabwean-born Chisora has almost sold out his fight. 6,000 of the capacity 8,000 seats have already again.
Speaking to Collin Murray on TalkSPORT on Wednesday, Chisora credited his change in attitude to advice from his mom.
Chisora said that he had spent too much time focused on being the villain and not being the best boxer. He was ashamed of himself after that press conference in Munich.
After his fall from grace following the events at Munich last year and the subsequent loss to Hayes he almost quit the sport. He waited for two weeks and then when he decided to get back into the right his mother told him:
If you’re gonna do this, you’re gonna do it right.
Now Chisora is enjoying his boxing again, watching his diet and his training regime has changed.
He goes into this weekend to defend his European Heavyweight title against Pala, which puts him closer to a shot at the world title.
He still doesn’t have any kind words for the Klitschkos though. He says, when they go, nobody will miss them.
We wish him the best this weekend.
