Chiyangwa to leave Zifa? His statements earlier this year suggest so…

So as you know Zimbabwe Football Association boss Dr Philip Chyangwa is the new president of the Council of Southern African Football Assocations.

While some expect him to function in both positions, there are indications from a Premier league sports writer’s workshop held in August that he was eyeing a move away from the local football authority.

Chiyangwa was quoted in The Chronicle:

Very soon I’ll be bidding Zifa goodbye to go up.

Now of course very soon is a fluid concept but he might begin to think that with the opportunities that being COSAFA president (and with it one of Confederation of African Football vice president) come with.

With the CAF re-election up on 17 March 2017 could Dr Chiyangwa be going for an even bigger position. Because after that, the two African slots for the  FIFA council will need to be filled.

He still has two years of his tenure left at ZIFA.
