Caps United rope in Rainbow Airlines for TP Mazembe assignment
Zimbabwe champions Caps United have chartered a Rainbow Airlines plane for their first leg CAF Champions League encounter in the Democratic Republic Congo against giants TP Mazembe.
The announcement was made at a press conference held in Harare on Wednesday by the club with representatives of the airline present.
The Green Machine hinted at a partnership between the club and Rainbow Airlines if they make it through to the group stage of the continent’s premier club competition.
Important for Caps is that they will fly directly to Lumbumbashi instead of connecting via Johannesburg or Kenya, which would add to their expenses. They leave for their destination on Sunday morning and will be back in Zimbabwe the evening of the same day.
Meanwhile Caps United manager Lloyd Chitembwe says the underdog tag gives them an advantage going into the Round of 32 tie. He said his club would take advantage of being an unknown quantity as they take on the five time winners of the tournament.
