Benjani Quits Football

Former Zimbabwe captain Benjani Mwaruwaru has quit international football, according to reports.

This was after the former Manchester City, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Auxerre, Jomo Cosmos and Air Zimbabwe Jets striker failed to land a ‘suitable’ club after leaving the UK.

It was reported last year that he had signed a deal with Supersport United but that fell through.

Benjani played for Zimbabwe 31 times scoring 8 goals.

He is a player that many felt never really reached the heights that were expected of him. Mind you, he was the third Zimbabwean to ever play in the premier league and did have a taste of Champions’ League football with Auxerre.
