Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat and huge total built on Rahmat Shah’s 114 set up their second highest ODI total of 333/5.

Only the spinners Graeme Cremer (3-47) and Sikandar Raza (2-58) managed to escape the carnage. The opening stand of 90 was off the back Ihsanullah with his brisk 54. He was out first and there was bit of a wobble and Afghanistan were 109-3.

Najibullah Zadran, who launched five sixes and five fours in an innings of 81 at a strike-rate of 158.82.

Zimbabwe started off fairly well and 50 for 0. There were little starts in the middle order but Zimbabwe never really got going and were bowled 179 in 34.4 overs. Rashid Khan was the wrecker in chief claiming 4-26 after 5.4 overs.

The second match is at the same venue on Sunday.
