2016-17 Logan Cup squads announced. Taylor, Jarvis in

Zimbabwe Cricket has issued the full list of the teams for the country’s four-day Logan Cup competition.

Brandon Mavuta receiving his first from Remembrance Nyathi last season

Last year, Mashonaland Eagles became the first team to win all three domestic titles and will be hard-pressed to repeat the feat.

What and who you need to know

While Harare Metropolitan Eagles still retain a very strong squad, it is all about where they go from here.

Midlands Rhinos or example will be boosted by having former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor and Lancashire star Kyle Jarvis in their ranks. Rhinos also have the prodigious pair of Tarisai Musakanda and Carl Mumba plus their effective Peter Moor in their side they will think they should have a better go than last season.

The Bulawayo Metropolitan Tuskers will be boosted by a fit-again Christopher Mpofu and a hungry Luke Jongwe. Jongwe needs form after he looked like he was about to be a permanent feature in the national setup.

Manicaland Mountaineers will hope the promise of the talent of Roy Kaia will come to the fore while Vusi Sibanda will do what he can to make sure the selectors think of taking him out of the commentary box and back to the middle of the park.

What they said

Rhinos Captain Graeme Cremer – I’m very excited for the season . . . I think our team has a very good chance this year.

Mountaineers captain Tino Mawoyo – We’re blessed with a squad comprising both youth and experience & I’ve no doubt we’ll win.

Tuskers captain John Nyumbu – We will take the bull by the horns and make sure that we come out with a positive result.

Eagles captain Tino Mutombodzi –  We will work harder than we did last season. It’s easy to get to the top but hard to maintain.
