Simuka Comedy the home of stand-up comedy in Zimbabwe celebrates its first anniversary. This incredible milestone will be celebrated on Friday the 29th of June at the Zimbabwe German Society at 730pm.
Heading the incredible line-up of comedians on that night will be South African based Carl Joshua Ncube who has just returned to Zimbabwe on the back of an incredible set of performances in Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda as part of the Nite of A Thousand Laughs Franchise. The show will see the Zimbabwean comedy industry come in full force to perform on one stage on one night, this stellar line-up includes stand-up comedy legend Michael K, Doc Vikela, Simba the Comic King, Q the Boss, Uncle Sam, the multi-talented CDE Fatso and from Bulawayo the duo of comics holding the fort in the south Clive Chigubu and General Ntando.
Founding Member of Simuka Comedy Doc Vikela says people should expect fireworks and rib cracking madness as this will be a celebration of everything funny in Zimbabwe. We are making a bold statement, we are making our intentions known, we are making your ribs sore, he added. The chilli evening of the 29th June will see awards being given in various dubious and unceremonial categories to create the much needed controversy expected in award ceremonies. The show will be full of ups, downs, mainly downs and embarrassing stories and tales told from various perspectives of Zimbabwe’s comedians. Preceding the event will be auditions and comedy workshops as part of the group’s initiative to grow the industry. Simba the Comic King one of the new comedians in Zimbabwe’s comic renaissance urged everyone interested in the show to visit the group’s website and also called upon new and aspiring comedians to register for the auditions on the simuka comedy facebook page.
