Police Chase Malema Out Of Marikana

Police have chased former ANC Youth League President Julius Malema out of Marikana on Monday.

Malema who is being investigated for incitement was due to address miners. After arguing with the police he was escorted in his car out of the area and towards with Tshwane with the police hot on his trail.

The government said it would clamp down on labour unrest and deal with elements it said were distabilising the industry by having what it termed ‘illegal gatherings’.

Malema had called on the miners to make industry ‘ungovernable’.

Meanwhile, two mining companies – Aquarius and Xstrata – have reopened their mines near Rustenburg.

All Lonmin mines remain closed.
