Zimbabwean Sprinter Ngoni Makusha Honoured By IAAF

US-Based Zimbabwean athlete Ngonidzashe Makusha has been named the top African sprinter of the year by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

In a trailblazing year he won the 100m National Collegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Championships in the United States in June. He became the first Zimbabwean to win a medal at the IAAF World Championships which took place in Daegu when he took the bronze in the long-jump.

The 24 year-old who recently graduated with an Economics degree holds a few NCAA records – 100m dash at 9.89 seconds; the best long jump mark (8.40 metres) at the national meet in 18 years.
