The permit is valid for a maximum of four years and will allow Zimbabweans to work, live and study in that country.

Applicants are required to complete the application process individually. This will include a personal appointment at the VFS Global offices across South Africa.

The Zimbabwean Exemption Permit does not entitle the holder to apply for permanent residence regardless of the duration of stay in the country. It is not renewable. There’s an admin fee of R1 090 per applicant.

The online process winds down at the end of November.

The permit was announced Home Affairs Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize.
