Referendum Note: Who Can Vote?

The biggest question doing the rounds on social media has to do with who is eligible to vote in the forthcoming constitutional referendum.

Gosh that is just ten days away.

So the need to know thing is that you do not have to be a registered voter to cast a ballot in the referendum. So no voters’ role business. You just have to be at least 18 years old and possess

  • A Zimbabwe national ID (metal or plastic)- except if you are non-citizen
  • A waiting pass –  that green paper you get that shows you are waiting to get the proper ID. It is still green right?
  • A valid Zimbabwe passport

There have been reports swirling that you need to have a proof of residence and all that other mess. Well, you don’t. All you need to do is to have that stuff.
