Pope Benedict XVI To Resign

Pope Benedict XVI will resign from his position on 28 February due to health reasons.

The reclusive pope has been using a cane in recent times when seen in public as well having trouble reading while addressing the public.

The Vatican has announced that the Pope will leave at 8pm on 28 February 2013, said the spokesman, Federico Lombardi. Benedict had been thinking about the matter for some time and had become weighed down by the office.

The 85 year-old says he is quitting for the good of the church and has requested an conclave to elect the next pope.

The last pope to resign was Pope Gregory XII in 1415. His resignation is thus, a bolt from the blue.

Not a Catholic by any stretch of the imagination and not a fan of the religion either but, inga.
