New censorship board is announced… and Bona is on it

So that board that most people don’t know about but kinda decides what they can watch, read and whatever has been announced.

It is the censorship board which has been a appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs’s minister Ignatius Chombo.

On it is the president’s daughter Bona Chikore. People are screaming nepotism about this. Well, we don’t know the qualifications for the board and if she is fit for the post, kudos to her. That right there, is for people who are more talented than us to deal with.

The board is headed by a man who is a traditionalist in Aeneas Chigwedere, a former minister and deputised by Konzani Ncube.

Other members include an assistant police commissioner in Charity Charamba, Catholic priest Father Fidelis Mukonori, Runyararo Magadzire, Chief Nyamukoho Samson Katsande, Regis Chikowore, Shingai Rukwata Ndoro, Chenjerai Daitai and Tungamirai Muganhiri.

The minister has said that this board will now serve five year terms (not three according to the Act. So will the act be changed?) and it seems as if the focus will be on entertainment, a lot.

Sure he mentions public order and peace but then undermine morality, nudity and indelicate sexual situations did not have to extensively mentioned.

Whatever happens, they’d better not touch Chakapfukidza or that place at end of the road that runs until morning. And that late night liquor place.

Otherwise, nanny state loading.

Of course with the new constitution, all this having a Censorship Board could be a bit silly if those challenging it have their way. But then again, it is something for more talented people than us to tackle.

Should be fun.
