Mozambique Cuts ZESA Off
Zimbabwe has had its electricity supply cut off by its Mozambican supplier, Hydro Cabora Bassa over non-payment of a $75 million debt.
This come on the backdrop of ZESA being owed close to a billion dollars by its customers with government, individual ministers and MPs accounting for huge chunks of that. The utility company has been going on a spate of disconnections of late as it attempts to recover monies owed.
It appears as if HCB cut the country off last week Thursday or Friday according to the Energy Minister Elton Mangoma. That’s right. A week ago.
As it stands there seems to be no discernible plan to get ZESA back online.
