Kereke Wants An Apology Or $45 Million From Newspaper

Dr Munyaradzi Kereke, the former advisor to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor loves courtrooms.

He is now going after Daily News and demanding $45 million from them unless they issue an apology for an article they ran two years ago which reported that he had raped a 13 year-old girl. He says the article caused him ‘irreparable damage’.

The newspaper says it will not apologise and will be happy to see him in court.

Kereke was reported back then to have raped a 13 year-old at gunpoint. Although he maintains that he is innocent, this has stuck with him since then and he has been unable to shake that story. So if you were him and you hadn’t done it, you can understand why you would be a little upset.

As it stands, no charges have been leveled against him. Repeated letters to the Attorney-General Johannes Tomana and Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri from lawyers representing the girl seeking clarification on why Kereke was not prosecuted have since gone unanswered.

So to court again it seems.
