Kenyatta declared winner in Kenyan poll rerun
The incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta has been declared winner in the controversial Kenyan presidential poll rerun.
Kenyatta garnered 98.26% of the vote in a poll boycotted by the major opposition party NASA led by Raila Odinga.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), 38.84 percent of the registered voters turned up to cast their ballot – that is 7.6 million of the 19.6 million registered voters.
Kenyatta in his acceptance speech said he would abide by any court challenge to this victory.
The first election which Odinga contested in court was set aside forcing a rerun.
