Holiday Road Death Toll Peaks At 50

Zimbabwe’s Easter holiday death toll hit 50 this year, just two shy of last year’s figures.

This came from a total of 424 accidents in which 273 people were injured. 269 were injured last year.

The breakdown was as follows:

Midlands recorded eleven fatalities, Matabeleland North one, Matabeleland South four, Masvingo five, Manicaland 10, Mashonaland Central three, Mashonaland East eight and Mashonaland West three, Harare five, Bulawayo zero.

179 cars were impounded and 8,487 tickets were issued.

Road Safe Zimbabwe continues to be active in trying to make sure people take a lot more care when using the roads. The Traffic Safety society of Zimbabwe attributes most accidents to human error. This is especially so after people take that befuddling stuff which compromises judgement calls.
