December 27 Declared Public Holiday

This is going to be a really long weekend after the government declared Tuesday 27 December 2011 a Public Holiday in Zimbabwe, according to The Herald.

This was said by Secretary for Media, Information and Publicity Mr George Charamba. This is because Christmas falls on a Sunday which is traditionally an off-day so to compensate we are being given one more day to get broke-r (is that even a word?).

Mind you, it hardly matters because some people are already holiday.

Interestingly this declaration is thanks to Section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act (Chapter 10:21).
