43 killed in Zambia-bound bus crash
The government-owned ZBC is reporting that has many as 43 people died on the spot in an accident involving a King Lion bus on its way to Zambia.
The accident happened i Nyamakate area in Hurungwe last (Wednesday) night.
Police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba, who is quoted as confirming the incident said that ‘the fact that the driver failed to negotiate a curve confirms that he could have been speeding’.
The number of people injured is referred to as ‘several’. The Herald reports the figure at 24 who have now been referred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
This is the second accident in two years involving the same company. On 19 July 2015, 12 people (8 on the spot) died when a Harare-bound King Lion bus veered off the road and overturned in Kaufe Zambia.
