2 Million Dead People on USA Voters’ Roll

For all the talk about democracy and how other people especially Africans are bad at it, it was revealed that they have close to 2 million dead people on their voters’ role.

A report by Pew Centre, a renowned US thinktank, estimates that among 24 million voter registrations, about in every eight are either no longer valid or inaccurate. Pew Centre provides information on issues, attitudes and trends shaping the United States and the world.

The study found:

  • Nearly 2 million dead people listed as active voters.
  • About 12 million with incorrect addresses that would prevent mailings from reaching the voters.
  • More than 2.7 million voters registered in more than one state.
  • More than 51 million eligible residents — topping 24 percent — are not registered at all.

We have never been fans of the US electoral system and this is a rather unexpected confirmation of our long-held mistrust. Not very different from any African country, are they?
