Single people twice as likely to be overweight
If you ever needed a reason to get married researches have just given you one.
Single people are twice as likely to be overweight than married ones.
The study looked at people with type 2 diabetes. They were presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting in Munich.
Married men are also less likely than single ones to suffer metabolic syndrome – which is a combination of diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity which damages the blood vessels.
This does not apply to women though.
Experts believe that if you are married, you will most likely eat healthier, take medication and go to the doctor if unwell.
270 people were part of the reasearch with 180 married and the rest single. The average age was 65.
From that, married men we were 50% less likely to be overweight. The risk reduction of metabolic syndrome was 58%.
Weird in Zimbabwe since if a man gains weight suddenly, the assumption is they have a wife feeding them.
