Obama Okay’s Gay Marriage
There has been mixed reactions to the comments made by President Obama pertaining to gay rights.
In an ABC TV interview Obama said-
“At a certain point, I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,”
Obama’s comments won’t change any laws , but it will definitely shake the fibre of American society. Gay groups are hailing the endorsement while religious groups have denounced it.
We feel these comments were made to leverage Obama’s political position. With six months before an election, we think that Obama is trying to win the hearts of gay rights support in some of key states.
Contrary to popular believe America still remains divided over whether same-sex marriages should have the same recognition and legal standing as traditional ones
It’s a risky preposition that he has made, but we will see if this gamble pays off at election time.
