Zim’s Insingizi celebrate historic Special Olympics World Winter Games performance

Zimbabwe might not have athletes at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017 in Austria but having Bulawayo’s world music group Insingizi there was a special moment.

Not only were they the first from Zimbabwe to perform at the opening ceremony of the games, they were the only ones from Africa.

The trio, Ramadu, Blessings Nqo & Vusa Mkhaya, wowed a capacity crowd that was there to usher in the games.

Mkhaya spoke to 3-mob.com exclusively:

3-mob.com: What did you perform?
VM: Out set was 12 minutes. We picked songs from our 3 albums. Voices from Southern Africa Vol 1&2 and African Harmonies(Siyabonga). The songs we sang were Isiqoqodo, Londolozela, L aduma, Mbonqane groove and Lamlela Ndwandwe.

3-mob.com: Was it as good as you expected?
VM: It exceeded expectations and honoured to have beeen part of the event

3-mob.com: How was the reaction from the crowd?
VM: The reaction was amazing and I think we pushed brand Insingizi to another level. We hope that this performance will open other avenues for us that we did not know existed.

We are a proud. Very proud.
