What’s Going On With Miss Zimbabwe?

Miss Zimbabwe 2012 is spiraling out of control with news coming out that the contestants were evicted from a local, low-budget lodge after the organisers failed to pay for accommodation.

This comes on the back of revelations that sponsors have not been enthusiastic about picking up the tab as the organisers had not provided them with a details of how the money will be spent.

As it stands it looks like the country’s flagship pageant is falling apart after all the work that the government and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority had put into it in the last couple of years. ZTA then handed over the license to the Miss Zimbabwe Trust.

President Robert Mugabe is said, according to Tourism Minister Eng. Walter Mzembi, to be interested in the success of the pageant. What the government will do to salvage remains to be seen but it seems as if the Miss Zimbabwe Trust is currently way out of its depth.

This years contest will be held on March 23 when reigning queen Malaika Mushandu will crown her successor.
