One of the greatest pop music icons, Whitney Houston is dead. She was 48.
Houston’s publicist, Kristen Foster, was quoted on Saturday as saying that the singer had died, at the Beverley Hills Hotel. Members of hotel staff and fire department officials attempted to revive a person on the fourth floor, who has since been confirmed to be Houston. Officials did not see obvious signs of criminal intent, and are currently investigating to determine the cause of death.
The death has come as a huge shock especially on the eve of the Grammy Awards and a tribute is expected at the show with artists such as Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan expected to perform her songs.
In the 1990s Whitney enjoyed huge commercial success singing emotion evoking songs, until her career and personal life were ruined by drug use, and her off, on and off again marriage to singer Bobby Brown. It’s yet another story that starts with a lot of promise and ends were most stars end.
CNN reported that Ray J was with the singer and was the one who found her dead. This is according to a friend of his that spoke to CNN.
To Whitney we say thank you for the great music.
