Unplugged Zimbabwe Turns Into A Strangely Sexy 1 Year-Old
We were at the Unplugged first anniversary show this weekend at Giuliana’s in Harare.
OK just so we get it out of the way for the nay-sayers. No the performances are not unplugged, They are totally plugged and live and all that other stuff.
Did you have fun though?
There were beautiful women and men with beautiful women treated to music from the Djembe Monks, the Showtime crew featuring Tehn Diamond and Shingi Mangoma, Edith (WeUtonga) and Clare (Nyakujara), Tinashe Makura. Did we forget anyone? No? Yes, No? Oh yes, Sylent.
Some of the artists who have graced the last 12 months are Cynthia Mare, Alexio & the Shades of Black, Macy & TheRed, Brian Kadengu, Vibe Culure with Rumbi Tavaziva to name a few. It is artsy.
The vibe was beautiful which makes essentially for a sexy one year-old.
Has it grown from the teething baby we saw at Gecko Gardens earlier this year? Yes, and that is all you can ask for. The potential was there but it was a concept that needed belief and all that other mess.
Families came out this weekend to chill. They call themselves good people. Some would call them rich people. It’s upmarket and for some aspiration-al. It’s not just family-friendly, it’s a good look.
Ultimately that is what a good afternoon out with the family is. You bring your drinks, a blanket to sit on and behave. And people were behaved on Sunday, weren’t they? Well, all 200-300 of them.
We’re looking forward to the next year.
