Toya DeLazy, Freshlygroud At HIFA This Year
Two of South Africa’s biggest acts, Toya DeLazy and Freshlyground will be at this year’s Harare International Festival of the Arts.
Delazy will perform on the Telecel Main Stage on the Saturday night while Freshlyground will do the closing concert on the Sunday night on the same stage.
Latoya Buthelezi, aka Toya Delazy’s success story is an extraordinary one. From obscure beginnings in the little known eMahlabathini, Kwazulu Natal, Toya’s fame has sky-rocketed, from her first mega-hit “Pump it on” and record deal signing with Sony Music Africa in 2011, to her SAMA award in 2013.
Freshlyground feature members of different ethnicities from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, they weave a musical magic that is highly infectious and undeniably groovy.
We’ve just gotten our hands on the programme and those two popped out for us. Already we confirmed that Dobet Gnahore will be around and we can also reveal German reggae band will come and have another go at HIFA.
Watch out of DJ’s Crazy White Boy and Milkshake for the DJ Party ‘with surprise Zimbabwean guests’.
Man of the moment Jah Prayzah will also debut at HIFA this year.
HIFA runs from 29 April to 4 May. Tickets go on sale from 17 April.
