Top European award for Harare International Carnival
Zimbabwe’s annual Harare International Carnival has received global recognition by being named the best festival in Africa by the Europe Business Assembly (EBA) and has been bestowed the Socrates Award.
This is according to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive Karikoga Kaseke who says the award will be picked up in October.
The medal of the “Socrates Award” is made of precious metals with a Socrates image in profile which is covered with pure gold (999,9 standard) and encrusted with Swarowski crystals. There is an inscription on a medallion “Primus Inter Pares”. The medallion is attached to the medal atlas ribbon.
Recognised criteria is:
- professional experience and achievements,
- personality global influence global influence to the social and economic progress
- high business/scientific reputation,
- implementation of innovations in different spheres,
- modern management tools
The most recent edition was seen as a resounding success with over 100 groups involved in the street party.
