Top designers showcasing at iFashion Fest this weekend
iFashion Fest is here and Hunnar Agency has revealed an incredible list of some of Zimbabwe’s top designers.
After skipping 2015, the iFashion Fest has announced quite the lineup for this year’s fashion show to make up for the lost year it seems. After only being launched in 2014 at the Stanley Square in Makokoba, Bulawayo, the fashion show promises to bring all the heat this year by bringing together the city’s fashion giants that have been making huge strides individually both locally and in the diaspora.
The second edition of the fashion event will be held on Saturday the 17th of December at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo as part of the festival.
After the abrupt cancellation of this year’s Intwasa Fashion Show, fashion lovers should look forward to iFashion Fest as it is one of the very few fashion events for the year 2016 in the city of Kings and Queens.
Rwandese star Bahia Luz who was incredible at Mozambique Fashion Week is the guest designer for this year and it’s simply going to be exciting to see what she has in store.
Showcasing will be 10 fashion brands that have been putting in all the work this year.
New comers – Uruta & Bakhar, who wowed Philippines fashion designer John Ablaza at his Bulawayo workshops by the US Embassy in July are promising to prove that they are ready for much grander stages.
Also gracing the event will be South African Menswear Week designers, KIDD HUNTA & Ara Kani who need no introduction. Kidd Hunta who is nominated for Best Southern Africa Designer at the Ugandan Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards 2016, is set to display his Autumn/Winter 2017 collection whilst award winning Ara Kani will showcase at the Fashion Fest soon after Mozambique Fashion Week where he debuted his Spring/Summer 2017 collection, first week of December.
Harare based designer Tapfumanei Munenge who is known for his high end, couture gowns also promises to bring back the same energy and high quality outfits that he brought in 2014 when he showcased in Bulawayo for the first time at a Hunnar Agency produced show. He brings his experience from bigger stages such as the Zimbabwe Fashion Week and Soweto Fashion Week, amongst many.
If you were following the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant then it goes without saying that the ladies were looking Ah-Mazing. Yvette Ndaba who dressed the 2nd princess and Sanah designs who dressed the crowned Miss Tourism will make sure that we re-live that experience at the iFashion Fest. She was recently in New York for the John Ablaz fashion show.
Joining them will be Zargue’ Sia & Chenna Nenni, electrifying designers to look out for at the event who also dressed contestants at the recently ended Miss Tourism.
After rocking the Durban Fashion Fair with her signature couture, Nkanyeziyethu Malunga of Ganu will also add to the list of fabric magicians to leave you asking for more.
Rounding up the designers will be the Bulawayo Polytechnic fashion students who are showcasing a collaborated collection just like the group of Bulawayo designers from the John Ablaza Project which saw a group of 13 Matabeleland designers partake in the development workshops alongside 31 Artisans. The products from the workshop will be displayed at iFashion Fest, something spectacular to look out for.
