Ti Gonzi takes Zvenyu to Senegal
Hip Hop hit maker Ti Gonzi is heading to Senegal this Thursday 06 July to take part in one of West Africa’s, and indeed the continent’s, biggest hip hop festivals.
Running since 2006, Festa 2 H is a hip-hop festival based in Dakar and Ti Gonzi is slated to perform this Saturday on the 8th of July. The young artist will be sharing the stage with legendary US hip-hop groups M.O.P and ONYX who are also billed to perform. Ti Gonz, real name Tinashe Gonzara first came to the public’s attention with his songs “Zvenyu” and “Hurombo” and is set to continue making many more hits with his signature “Hipu Hopu YemuGhetto” where the young emcee delivers vernacular raps and inspired hooks over thumping beats.
Ti Gonzi’s performance is a result of the continued hip-hop exchange programme between Shoko Festival, and Festa2H. Previous editions have seen Zimbabwean rappers Sharky, Synik, NTM and Tehn Diamond travelling to Senegal under this exchange programme, and the festival plans to continue this exchange for a long time coming as the benefits of travel are far reaching.
Shoko Festival this year will be from the 29th of September to the 01st of October at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences grounds running under the theme “Youtopia.” Shoko strives to create more opportunities for Zimbabwean artists so as to garner more exposure for them and help them in their journey towards global success.
