Music video director to host workshop, film projects in Harare
UK-based Zimbabwean director Tatenda Jamera is in Harare for the next couple of weeks and this Saturday he hosts a music video workshop at Blind Faith Studios.
Jamera’s credits are impressive. He best known for his exceptional lighting design work on music videos for Nicki Minaj ‘Freedom’, Mary J Blige ‘Right Now’and is highly regarded in Nigeria directing music videos for Afro music stars Lola Rae, Iyanya, Tiwa Savage and Sean Tizzle.
So he is the perfect candidate to head this workshop which will be knowledge sharing to up the Zimbabwe film industry’s game. Ten aspiring video and film students have been selected to participate in the inaugural workshops which will include shooting videos for prominent local artists including Simba Tags, Shasha, Jam Signal and many more local artists.
Supporting staff will be engaged for the month-long project.
Joining Jamera are some of are Zimbabwe’s music video practitioners, Aaron Mheta, Andy Cutta, Denise Edwards, Chris Shoca, Philo, Zash Chinhara and Gwinyayi Mabika who will co-direct.
I am thrilled to be in Harare working with my peers in the film industry, I believe our Zimbabwean artists and music can compete internationally. We are excited to create amazing visual stories with some of our top local artists, thank you to everyone involved.
The workshop runs from 11.30am to 2.30pm. Blind Faith is at 11 Bath Road, Belgravia, Harare.
