Moto Republik update on demolition threat
Moto Republik survived another week after the threat by the Harare City Council.
The creative hub says it got 1,800 signatures for its petition in 7 days. On top of that there were 15,000 tweets.
Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere who visited the hub said:
Govt won’t allow its closure. Important center that is for youth empowerment and creativity. Engage and correct whatever needs correcting.
Harare Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni added:
NO demolition today(Thursday). Hoping for a sober, well-considered outcome amid the storm.
Moto Republik co-founder Samm Farai Monro AKA Comrade Fatso:
I have been in touch with Mayor Manyenyeni and I feel an amicable solution is possible.
Moto Republik has engaged its lawyers to resolve the dispute with The City of Harare as well as to seek reparations for damages made to its structure. The matter is now before the High Court in Harare and scheduled for a hearing this week.
