Literary Giant Chenjerai Hove Dies
One of Zimbabwe’s most prolific writers and poets Chenjerai Hove has died.
From what we have been told he died from liver failure in Norway.
At this stage it is still early to confirm what is going to happen but what is certain is that there are plans to repatriate his body.
One of his most iconic pieces of work was the 1981 And Now The Poets Speak. He would win the Noma Publishing Award for Up In Arms in 1983 and another for Bones in 1989. The 1991 Shadows, became a set book in secondary schools in Zimbabwe.
He also engaged in extensive academic work as writer in residency, a guest writer and visiting professor at various universities.
